Why do my brick pavers sink or settle in my driveway?

Brick paver sinking or settling can result from various factors, with improper installation being a primary cause. Inadequate installation of a concrete curb restraint can lead to its later breakage, causing the spreading of brick pavers and subsequent sinking and settling. We employ a triple compaction process to mitigate future sinking and settling issues. Additionally, we utilize #3 corrosion-proof rebar in new concrete curb restraints when necessary to secure brick pavers effectively. At Brickpaverrepairs.net, we offer a four-year warranty on all brick paver repairs and installations.

Why do you sometimes use fiberglass rebar in our concrete curb restraints?

If you have a brick paver driveway and you are driving a vehicle off of the side of it across the concrete curb restraint, this can cause extra stress and crack. Once cracked these curb restraints can break away and cause spreading of your brick pavers. This can lead to a costly brick paver repair down the road. When installing brick pavers make sure you insist on Owens Corning Pinkbar+ #3 fiberglass rebar that won’t corrode from the salt air. Owens Corning Pinkbar+.

Why are my brick pavers raising in certain areas?

Many brick paver driveways were installed alongside oak trees and over time these trees send in feeder roots underneath your driveway and, as the tree grows, expand. This will cause your brick pavers to lift. We will remove the affected brick pavers, cut away all of your roots, and remove any organic material which can cause sinking and settling of your pavers down the road. Once complete, we install new crushed concrete and compact to proper grade, your existing pavers, and any affected concrete curb restraint.

Why do my brick pavers settle around the outside perimeter of my pool?

Brick pavers sinking around your pool? We have the answer. When your pool was originally installed and the wood forms were pulled away, the soil was then filled in and compacted and many times air pockets and lightly compacted areas are left behind. 2-5 years after your brick paver installation these voids work there water to the top and cause your brick pavers to settle and sometimes cave in around your pool perimeter. Brickpaverrepairs.net will remove the first two feet of brick pavers from around your pool. After the brick paver removal we water jet down 6” deep every 6” all the way around your pool perimeter removing any remaining voids and therefore preventing and future brick paver sinking and settling. We fill in these voids with crushed concrete and compact before we put your brick pavers back in place. Brickpaverrepairs.net provides you with a four year warranty against future sinking and settling.

Why should I pressure wash, sand, and seal my brick pavers?

Brick pavers require maintenance every three to four years. It's essential to avoid using xylene or oil-based sealers on your brick pavers, as these products can suffocate the pavers, leading to efflorescence or whitening, yellowing, graying, and even cracking over time. Removing these products can be labor-intensive and will require commercial products and tools. Instead, we recommend applying a commercial-grade water-based epoxy brick paver sealer to maintain the integrity and appearance of your pavers.

Can I remove rust stains from my brick pavers?

We utilize a mild muriatic acid solution to effectively eliminate up to 95% of rust stains from your pavers. However, due to the potential risks associated with muriatic acid, we strongly advise leaving the removal process to experienced professionals. Incorrect application of muriatic acid can worsen staining and even cause severe erosion or "burning" of your pavers. At Brickpaverrepairs.net, our comprehensive rust stain removal process includes applying fungicide, pressure washing with an orbital for uniform cleaning, reapplying joint sand, and sealing to ensure a thorough restoration of your pavers.

Can I remove oil stains from my brick pavers?

In most cases yes but not 100%. We have commercial grade products for oil stain removal. We also use a “turbo tip” pressure washing the area with spinning zero tip for the highest pressure to penetrate the stains below the hard surface.
